4/23/2023 Weekly Announcements & Townhall recap

Good afternoon all.

Here is the link to yesterdays service for anyone who missed it: https://www.youtube.com/live/9WSBdEJjElE?feature=share

TOWNHALL RECAP:

  • Financials – We have money. Our deck fund has just reached $5,000 (goal is $10,000). To clarify, this deck fund is specifically/only for the deck that will be built off the kitchen in the church as well as the installation of the French doors (already purchased) to access the deck from the kitchen. The porches on the house/annex are not included.
  • Love Avenue:
    • Next event is graduation acknowledgement at end of service on 6/4 (Brett Thompson & Noah Sitterley)
    • Christmas in July event will be Saturday 7/15 this year. Discussed what went well last year & what we’d like to do differently.
      • Cherelle has contact info for the shaved ice vendor that we used last year. She will reach out & try to get them booked again.
      • BBQ hot dogs this year. Set up BBQ & food tables near whatever food truck we have to keep all of the food together. Some people missed the food hidden away inside last year.
      • We need to publicize the event ahead of time, not only the hand out of info the morning of.
        • Once digital files are available, Shawna will post on Junction City Community Facebook page & contact JC Chamber of Commerce to have posted on their calendar as well.
        • Have postcards printed that we can leave at places like the Beer Station in JC. Check with other local businesses as well. Thistledown?
        • Handout information during “Function in Junction” (first weekend in June).
      • Shorter event this year, only 2-3 hours rather than all day.
      • Be flexible with jobs/duties.
      • Volunteers/workers need to be identified as such (still have shirts from last year?). Mandatory requirement for greeters. Greeters need to be proactive greeting people in the parking lot.
    • Faith Avenue:
      • Current groups:
        • Book club is just getting ready to start up again. This session’s book will be On Repentance and Repair Making Amends in an Unapologetic World by Danya Ruttenberg. REMINDERS:

I will continue to add any prayers received on request slips during Sunday service to the prayer wall on our website unless the slip specifically says that it is not to be posted on-line. The prayer wall is available 24/7 for anyone to add a prayer. Although the prayer wall is on Eugene’s website it is also open for Salem members to use! Once at https://gcriverroad.com/ hover over the ANNOUNCEMENTS heading at the top of the screen & then click on Prayer Wall when it appears. Scroll to the bottom of the prayer list to enter your request into the provided fields. The name field is required; however, if you would like to add a request anonymously, you can enter “anonymous” there. You will still have to enter your email address, but it will not be posted anywhere. Once you have filled out the four fields (name, email, prayer request & select to share), click submit to post your request to the wall. Please note, there is a delay in the prayer showing up on the wall (even after refreshing).
